Microsoft Outlook: Upgrade from Standard 2003 trial to Standard 2003 retail not worki

  • Hello,

We were running the 120-day trial of the Standard Edition of Exchange
2003 Server with SP1 installed. That trial has expired and we purchased the
full retail version of Exchange Server 2003 Standard edition. According to
the MS FAQ on the subject, a simple reinstall will promote you to the full
version, but it's apparently not that easy. Running the reinstall from the
official MS Exchange 2003 CD of course yields me an error, letting me know
that it cannot reinstall over the SP1 version of the trial that is there.
Running the update from the SP1 CD will complete successfully, but will not
register as the full version, still saying were running the expired trial.
I've seen other post in this newsgroup regarding this very problem, but alas
there have been no public responses to them. I'm sure there is a simple step
that I am overlooking, and I would greatly appreciate any help in resolving
    this.

    Thanks in advance,

    Charles Watson III
