Microsoft MS DOS/95/98/me: Stop new windows from opening when you click on folders....

• I can't seem to figure out how you stop new windows from opening every time you click on a folder. It opens a new window and leaves the previous one open, it bugs me.
  
  Also this annoying window pops up on the side on internet explorer with the lycos search engine. And I can't seem to get rid of it. It pops up at random when I browse the internet. I've scanned with a fully updated spybot search and destroy, and clear all cookies files and history. Still getting it...
  I am Windows 98 Second Edition.

     As to your popup problem I'd try using a trojan remover. Try ASquared free here:

     As to windows opening at random try:
     
     Start>Settings>Folder Options>Custom Settings then click "Open Each Folder in the same Window"
     
     Also, has this problem been happening for awhile or just recently? Do you use Lycos a lot? Maybe its time to switch to google..?
